Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was a noted Indian scientist and the 11th President of India. He served in some of the most important organizations in the country. He was a politician who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
Avul Pakir Zainul Abidin Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu to a Muslim family. His family’s financial condition was not good, so he had to work from a young age. Young Kalam used to distribute the newspaper after school to help his father financially.
After becoming President, Dr. Kalam has been a very respected and accomplished person in the eyes of all the countrymen. Dr. Kalam has worked as a scientist for almost four decades. He had started his career by designing a small hovercraft at DRDO. Among his numerous awards were two of the country’s highest honors, the Padma Vibhushan (1990) and the Bharat Ratna (1997).
He also played an important role in the 1998 Pokhran II nuclear test. Dr. Kalam was also involved with India’s space program and missile development program. For this reason, he is also called ‘Missile Man’.
On 27 July 2015, he suffered a heart attack while teaching at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. Our beloved and favorite of millions of people, Dr. Abdul Kalam went to the other world.
